CenterPoint was the first industrial REIT in the U.S. and Mr. Barber served as its chairman and lead independent trustee until its $3.4 billion sale in April, 2006. He retired from Capital & Regional in 2006. Mr. Barber also currently serves as an independent director for Applied Residential, a provider of creative lease-purchase financing structures for the residential housing industry. Mr. Barber was selected as a director because of his extensive experience with real estate ownership and management and his experience with public REITs.
